Is this ok?
I have been thinking about working with my friend who is a manager at Macy's. She said they will likely hire me if I apply because I have a lot of good cashier experience. Is it a good idea to have my friend be my boss though? Should I take the job? I really want to, but I am nervous. I love Macy's and it would be nice to have a different work environment.

Go for it! I worked at Macy's and enjoyed the fast pasted atmosphere. And the cool thing about working for the company is that you can pickup other employees hours that need someone else to cover there shift. Plus you can become manager within six month with more pay.

I agree with Diane

Speaking from experience I don’t recommend it.

Ummm can't say..hard to mix business n pleasure.Just depends on the friendship .

Can you accept her as your boss? It won't be good for you if your co-workers thinks you are a favorite and it won't be good for her if you are seen as a slacker. Think it through.

Of course you should take it. Make sure you don't expect special treatment because she'll be your boss. You need to do the job as expected and if you do so, there shouldn't be any problems. Also remember that you'll be representing your friend, in a sense, since she recommended you.

Hey Evelyn I think it is okay to work at Macy's with your friend being a manager there. However, you must make sure you keep it business when working together. Also, see it as a blessing because getting a job can be hard to come by these days. Good luck!

Depends...if u have a great friendship and u both trust each other I see no problem with it. Agree both of you NOT to talk shop off hours which includes talking about co-workers. Also AGREE no breaks or lunch with each other during work hours which would be inappropriate and implies favoritism. DO NOT tell co-workers u got job bcuz of ur friend. In other words just like anything in life keep professional & friendship separate. This is a job in which you & ur friend/boss must ADHERE to the policies as expected.

Good idea to work at different place
Just as long as you know that while you are working she is not your friend, but your manager and you must treat her as such. The minute you start treating her as your friend in the work place, your friendship with her is at risk.
