You may be older, but you are not too old. I know ppl 10-15 years older than me, which puts them in early 60s and 70s, that are finding part time jobs. God Bless.

Re assess your skills and personality from the past. You can work and somebody will hire you.whether minimum wage or above. It is good for your health to get into the job market.Look at all the young people now. Because of their student loans, they will be enslave for life. Hoping you don't have that.Your experience and objective in life. Will allow you to redeem yourself from your despair. Who cares what people say. THEY DON'T PUT FOOD AND SHELTER IN YOUR TIME OF NEEDS.Focus on your objectives. IN THE END IT IS JUST YOU. EVERYBODY MOVED ON TO THEIR NEW LIFE.

Older Workers are definitely being targeted - even knowing your job & holding your own - And....Not broke down or looking worn - dressed appropriate.

The younger generation (most of them) are intimated by your experience, your wisdom & your presence in their workgroup- uncomfortable - As- I observed you make them nervous - it appears they are not as knowledgeable as they pretend to be but to the less experienced they feel empowered- not being questioned etc.

Others in the younger generation will ask you point blank - When are you going to Retire? As if you made enough money its time for you to go so someone else can get your job or your office space or become the most knowledgeable person.

If you are not looking to move on - it starts trying to exclude you, make you uncomfortable, they reinvent office process, procedures & put in various system databases to further push you to the bottom & Out the door. The more system data bases - technology you can be replace by a Data Statistical person having a basic understanding of the work being done. This is a data driven generation - to tell our story on how we are doing? To glorify us - Are WE doing the work? The numbers said we are!

No one tells the truth - these days.

I understand how you feel - I’m 64 soon to be 65 - years of experience & a varied background - I was targeted by my team- with Leadership & leadership told me I need to get some rest - I understand telling folks - I Retired. Actually they included two others younger to cover their tracks with me working on the same project - Term Position ended. Force Termination is what it is along with targeting Older Workers. They keep a few older workers that pose no threat - not as experience or threatening.

In pointing all this out - Don’t own other folks stuff!

It’s a Journey - YES it’s unfair - but don’t let this DEFINE you!

Pull your Pension- scale down & look for unemployment, perhaps social security if 62 or older - check your State as some you can pull unemployment & Social Security. Your Pension is always an option & as it is now - you need to watch how it’s losing money!

We spend less & need less at this age & you will see after taking this much needed break - look for a lower paying job to offset what you automatically got coming in at this age.

Let Go of the past & Enjoy the rest of your life! Those still in the game will soon fall into their own grave!

Ageism is a TIME to Live!

I am 61 and feel like I may as well be 85. It is an unbelievable world we live in. I am better off finding some housecleaning jobs on my own.

I had a woman tell that I may not have the energy for the job, and I was only 40. I said, that you, got up, went to HR, and told them what had happened, then I showed them the interview! She was fired, but I never heard anything. These "young" people come out of college and they think they know everything, and tell you so, and then they never do a quality job! So, its been here all along.
