How can someone with unclear goals and career direction set up a job search system that's practical and attractive to employers? Everything I've been doing to find a job is not working! I’m not an undisciplined person just not able to figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life. Graduated from high school two years ago and I’ve worked odd jobs since then. Getting pressure from family to make something of myself. How can I plan for a career when I don’t know what I want to do?

Do you have any interest or passions? Do you like helping people or building things. How do you prefer to spend your time off? Ask yourself these type of questions and get to work on finding answers within yourself.

Lamont, sometimes identifying what you don’t want to do helps to lead you in the right career direction. I agree with the previous comment. Figure out how much money you need for bills and other expenses then look work work where you can earn that.

That’s not an uncommon place to be, especially for a young person so don’t be too hard on yourself and build on that outside pressure. Just do something, start in areas you’re most curious about and give it a shot.

That's a really good question Lamont. I think many people actually go through that same thing. You might take a look at temp jobs so you have an opportunity to work different jobs and find things you do and don't like. That could give you a good start.
