Supervisor at Dollar General

Fired Improperly

I found a job to keep my mind off of things at home and to make a lil extra spending change at the local Family Dollar. I applied for management position as a lead Key holder and was hired. After getting the store organized and promoted a team working atmosphere, a general manager was finally hired on. So after only working there for 3 months..i get FIRED! I was told i was fired because i didn't do stocking at 70%. Keep in mind as a supervisor you must hold a key for returns..exchanges..etc. other things such as stocking came 2nd. So in my opinion myself or no one could give. 70%. I wasn't even given a write up or a promissory warning AT ALL! Just a lousy "Im letting you go"...should i take legal actions against my store district?

Find out she drove rhe last asm turned sm and 2 employess to quit together. She attempted tp dig dirtnon me prior to meeting me online and dis same to asm hired weeks before me. She acts like spy and alsp talks bad about people. Yet if i fiee her because it seems dm is afraid i guess ill be the bad guy.

Yes yes my wife worked at Dollar General in Midway New Mexico nothing but a crooked ass store. The manager never would let her finish her certificates or whatever they're called she was working 70 plus hours a week for one and a half months I think it was all they did was praiser and then when the manager came back after workers comp they just did everything they could do to fun way to get rid of her. Unfortunately she works Night Shift she got in the truck and didn't realize her keys had fallen out until the next day about 4:00 our time the manager never even called her to tell her nothing the district manager called and told her she was fired no if Sam's her butts so granted she's better off but then again when does she get her last paycheck what about her overtime from what we can see she never was paid fully on that and also what about the manager giving out all the codes everything to employ that was just brought in for weeks to help on getting a store straight all the codes and everything so who's making all the decisions here on who's to stay in who's not to stay manager is nothing but a liar and racist she has tried every way she could to get rid of my wife and this was the unfortunate way right here my wife gave everything she had to that store lesson learned I guess Dollar General can go straight to hell for all I am concerned. It took me calling OSHA to get them an outdoors toilet set at that store because the manager told them all to go out back and do their business cuz the toilets inside the store were inoperable that went for 2 weeks once oh she contacted him and then there's an outhouse put out there

Miss Cunningham, it sounds like you may have been over qualified for this position. Your organization skills, team leadership, an overall knowledge of the job may have intimidated the new Manager. Who saw your skills as a threat, instead of an asset. It may not be worth the finicial debt with the burden of proof on you. I'd use your skills in a Organizational Mgt position. Good Luck just my two cents

Sorry to hear that but you should always try your best not 70% of your best 95% of your best at least just depending on how good or bad of a job you did depends on if you get a second chance or warning or not for example if you did a horible job you would be fired on the spot but if you did a relatively bad job you would be given a second chance but no matter what happens ALWAYS try your best

It sounds like they hired you to clean-up and organized the store and once you did that they no longer needed you. It looks like they hired a friend to fill the position but, he didn't want to do what you did so it look like they used you for the 3 months to fix the floor plan because i think the other manager they hired could'nt do it. So i would check with the labor board to see if it is unlawful termination, if they didn't give you an outline of what they needed done.

Production at Jim Beam

My wife worked at Dollar General in Boston Ky and hurt her back doing stock one day. She reported it to her GM, Elaine and went about her day. When she got home she could barely walk and couldn't lay down at all. She continued to work for the next 7 days, thinking her GM would give her further instructions on how to deal with a workplace injury. But she didn't. My wife had to get the Medcore number from corporate herself. This was only after she started losing control of her bladder and legs. She has an L3 sprain. Her vertebrae is turned 90 degrees. Workers compensation took her off work for 6 days. She returned and went by her restrictions. She had a scheduled day off and while she was not in the store the DM, Jeff Wilson, decided to take her stool away and told Elaine that the doctors restrictions weren't specific enough so they worked her outside of her restrictions for almost a week. Then one day, my wife couldn't get out of bed. And called in and told her assistant manager that she wouldn't be able to come in. During this time both managers were running rumors around town that my wife was faking her injury. It got back to us and my wife filed a complaint and asked for a transfer through her DM Jeff. Jeff refused her a transfer. Made fun of her anxiety disorder. Mocked her voice (I heard all of this as she had the phone on speaker). She tried for a week to get a hold of the regional manager and he would not return her calls. She was still employed with DG. Then she called after her back felt better to get back on schedule. The GM told her she'd get her in the following week. Well. The next day she got a call saying she was terminated due to no call and no show. My wife had talked to her GM on the days she was scheduled and the GM said nothing about her being on schedule. Corporate reversed her termination. Then Jeff came up with another lie. Saying she was non compliant with worker's comp. Which she wasn't. So they terminated her. He also said he called her and told her that she was on schedule. He didn't. He couldn't because our landline was out and he doesn't have her cell number. In my opinion, Dollar General is a corrupt company. They treat their employees horribly. They allow their store managers to do and say whatever they want. They do not care if their workers get hurt. They have no conscience for their employees. Not only that, I've never been in a Dollar General that didn't have black mold in the dairy cases. They sell expired food at the order of the DM. Their products look like theyve been sitting on the shelf for years without being at least dusted. If I were you, I'd file a lawsuit. But good luck because Dollar General will lie as much as they can to make you look bad. Elaine has lied on my wife to the point that she's unable to find employment in our town because Elaine knows everyone and she can't even get her purchases bagged at the only other store in town. They treat her like crap now. And corporate turns a blind eye. I've never seen anything like it.

Manager Williamson County Jail at Aramark Correctional Services

I was a Chef Manager for a High School lunch program in an "At Will" State. Making a starting salary of 50,000.00 a year. Worked for eight months there with no problems. Always let my employees know of my open door policy if there was anything they wanted to discuss. However, these lunch ladies who were employed by the District were Union Employees and protected as such. I was brought in through a contracted employer. We were not Union. This was to be a new program which meant change and no one likes change. From the start these women did not like me so after eight months told my company I made them feel uncomfortable. Well of course I did not only was I their boss but I did a tremendous amount of changing the program that had not worked in the past to one that did. I have 30 years in this industry so I know what I'm doing. But, because they said they were "uncomfortable" and I was an "at will" employee they fired me for sexual harassment they told me it was sexual harassment when it so clearly was not. I was dumbfounded to say the least. I did take it to the top and they stood with the decision to terminate based on lies. But, in the end I applied for unemployment they fought it hard but I prevailed. I am now receiving unemployment and looking for another job.

That is quite unfortunate, however, if you are in a at will state, that is pretty much all. In any at will state you can let go of your employers and they can let you go without cause. If that is stated in the handbook or by-laws, if you will, you shouldn't waist any time fighting it. Just find another job that appreciate your services. You might just be put in a position to be able to watch that business fail as you progress.
