Please let me work...I can do practically anything

I am a single mother and had brain surgery and couple years ago. Until recently, I was unable to work and my memory is spotty to say the least. I just began earning a little money online from freelancing and I need help. I am willing to work extremely hard and am tired of being told I'm a liability. I have taught myself to create websites, I have been in Virtual Assistant/Clerical environments and put my all into everything I do. I love helping people and here's what I need your help with please. My grandparents helped my son and I so much financially after the brain surgery. My 93 year old grandpa is gonna have to get heart surgery on February 24th, 2016 and I have been unable to become successful or even get my son and I a place to live and I promised myself I would do everything I can to show him and my grandma that their help means the world to me. I need them to know things with my son and I will be OK and that I can take care of it.

Does anyone have any suggestions or jobs that need someone's immediate help? Anything that pays will do, I can do almost anything and I will be grateful for any work.

I'm sorry, but I have only a week and I know people have their own problems t deal with and they probably don't think someone who had brain surgery and is considered a liability to most would be of any use. But I am desperate and will never forgive myself if I can't put his mind at ease knowing we'll be alright before his surgery.

I will make everyone who is nice enough to help proud to have done so. Please forward to anyone who might let me work immediately. I work online so I can virtually assist anyone in the world. If this goes nowhere I still can't give up. I will make my success out of nothing but determination, hard work and always continuing forward.

Thank you in advance to anyone that has taken the time to read my cries for help. Please feel free to respond with any info. Thank you.

Hello! If you've taught yourself how to create websites it would be a great idea to advertise that around your local colleges where they might have art/music/photography departments. People who are trying to get into the arts frequently need help creating a website! Churches and non-profit programs also usually need someone to help with this sort of thing.

There's also a South Valley WorkSource Center about a 16 minute drive from your zip code (listen on your profile), you can call them at 661.265.7421 to see if there is any sort of career counseling or career resource help you could get from them.

I hope this is helpful!

Ohhh, my heart... Sk, we're all keeping our fingers crossed for your grandfather's surgery! I found this online - might be interesting. It won't pay like a full-time gig, but it's something you could definitely put on a resume once you do a few, and might help tide you over for a bit: https://www.usertesting.com/be-a-user-tester Do you have the contact info of anyone you used to VA for? It would be worth reaching out to them (1) to see if they need assistance again, (2) to get some good references for the past work you've done, AND (3) see if they can offer any referrals for people they know who may who need someone today.

Hi Sk: I'm so sorry to hear what you're going through right now. First, take a deep breath - your grandfather absolutely knows that you've GOT this. You've had a string of hard knocks, but you're a hard worker. Heck, you've taught yourself some things that most people tend to avoid because it seems too hard. You're a great worker and a self-starter, and it sounds like he knows this. So don't think that unless you have a job next week, he's going to think you're a failure - because that's absolutely, 100% not true. I don't know you, but it sounds like you're a good mom who's ready to work, and that's something that a lot of people can't say about themselves.
Second, what sites have you used to find virtual assistant work? Let me know, because I've seen a few sites that might be worthwhile to check out.
Third, you can absolutely search for at-home work on Jobcase. Here's how to see who's hiring for remote workers near you:

  • Double-click the Jobs button at the top of this page
  • Enter the type of job role you're looking for
  • Click the blue search button If you see something that looks interesting, just click View Job and follow the instructions to apply. Sk, you're going to be okay. We're all thinking of you over here!
