I thought objectives were DEAD!

Does anyone use an objective anymore on your resume??? I don’t have one as I didn’t think it was necessary but a reference passing my cv internally for a position asked me to include one. Probably because I’m trying to move into a new industry…? I thought having an objectives on your resume was seen as a bad thing. So confused!!

Summaries are what's used at the top of a resume. Objectives are not relevant, because the objective of a resume is to get a job and titles are not negotiated up front.

I think all feedback is helpful and somehow; especially during certain events that are interrelated

Talent Acquisition / Recruiting

Hi Jenna, In my job, I look at a few hundred resumes or profiles every day. I think the objective can be very helpful but typically in two specific cases. If you only have a few years of experience or if you have had a number of different type of jobs which would make it hard for me to see what you are looking for in your next role. I wouldn't say objectives are dead and I think they can be helpful! I hope this helps.
