Home Care Aide at Personal Best

I'm at a crossroads about leaving a job I recently got hired.

Hello, so I've been working at this job for a week and I'm already getting told off by my supervisor at the temp agency. Apparently the woman at the nursing home feel like that I'm taking a little longer to catch on with my job duties (by the way I am) I really feel like they are trying to sabotage me and my reputation as a HCA and I've been working as one for 6 years and I never have a problem. But I'm starting to think if I should just leave and take my chances elsewhere. Because I have no clue if they are going to let me go. Also if they are going to ask the agency to end my job assignment there's a big chance that I won't get sent to other jobs that would peak my interest. Any advice? Thanks in advance 😪

Convey your concerns to the temp agency that placed you there. Then also convey your concerns with the supervisor. Be specific about what is presenting a challenge to you and also provide a possible solution that involves both changes that you could make and also changes that could be made by the other party to facilitate your being able to perform better at the job at hand.

If they seem to now want to facilitate the improvement of you being able to fulfill the job at hand then speak with the temp agency about a transfer and be specific as your concerns with the current placement.

Where has the compassion for others, the love. Why are we so cold to each others, she asked for advice and this is what she gets, Always put yourself in other's shoes, then WALK THE TALK.

Darlene...after reading Kimberly's first post, I could not draw a conclusion about who is at fault for the issues with her current position. There is more information that is required to access the situation fairly. While we all have a right to our opinion, my opinion is this is a community job site for constructive post not calling out each other so harshly.

Kimberly....I have a few helpful tips.

  1. Never let anyone take you to a place where you react negatively. Always hold your head up and response positively. This was a hard lesson for me to learn but I am better for it now.

  2. Trust your instincts. You know better than others what is best for you. Jobs are hard to come by but we must be a good fit for the job especially when we are dealing with people so directly as you are. I recently, declined next step for a job because after the first interview, I knew it would not be the right fit for me.

Good Luck to you. Trust yourself.

Your caring for our older generation. It's obvious you don't care about them. Yes, quit now before you end up hurting someone who doesn't deserve it. Sounds like your not taking your position seriously. There are enough caring, compassionate individuals out there who would LOVE your job.

You can always talk to the temp service you actually work for about transferring to another job site. Just explain the situation. And that way you save your job and reputation.

Temp agency have a reputation to assist you not work against you. Nursing homes all run differently. Try to absorb all the instruction you can and its ok to ask questions. Put all your skills into work here and remember you may have to look elsewhere as a backup plan for you. Good luck on your search list.

Kimberly.....leave before they kick you out. I've learned one lesson from my last employer.....once they start going after you, cause or no cause, they don't give up until your gone....so save yourself sleepless nights, tears, health issues, and the belief you can change them - you can't!

We as a society need to have employers change how they treat their employees....which I might add are their neighbors and the ones who help them (the employer) make the big bucks.

Normally I would say something different, don't run. If the don't have a lot of turn over then I would say run. But have something before you do that. Pray for this lady she probably is going through a lot. Or Maybe they are going to give you a position and want to see if you would be that fit for that position. Pray to God and ask him for the answer.

People can be soo horrible and I assure you it’s not you. You would think a supervisor wouldn’t act in such a childish unprofessional way. I would confront her, if not she will keep getting away with treating you unfairly.
