Fired after 5years

I got fired after 5 years with having 5 years of reviews that exceeded expectations just because what I can only assume is the new boss of just 4months decided he didn’t like me. Excuse was my bad attitude. Morgage, kid, wife you know. Dad passed away nephew took own life I feel down and out. What do you do.

I'm in much the same boat. Homeless and desperate I needed food so started stealing lunches off the grocery shelves. Knew it was wrong move, but hindsight's the one that's 2020. So now I'm in a bad situation at my cousin's house not a comfy place to be. How to find a job once I'm terminated???

Most likely your former employer wis an at will company. So they can let you go for any reason. I hate to recommend fighting to restore your job, but it would be like fighting with a skunk...you loose even if you win.

I hate to recommend not fighting for your job but it is like fighting with a skunk...you loose even if you win. Find work elsewhere.

Kenneth, We have all been fired or laid off at one time or another. The main thing to remember is you are not alone in this. Take a few days off start collecting unemployment and look for a job that you are passionate about. If you allow this to get you down you will never get back up. Look at some of our inspirational writers like Edward. Read some of his posts they are truthful and inspiring and they do lift people up. In the meantime update your resume and cover letter and do not use this company as a reference. Instead, find someone you know will give you a killer letter of recommendation. While you are waiting perhaps you could work at home part-time there is plenty of work at home jobs just to name a few Sitel, Williams Sonoma, TeleTech, ABC Financial, there are even jobs from home for Managers for the Census Bureau on Indeed. Also, check out Zip Recruiter, and Career Builder along with this website. I hope I was able to help you, God Bless. Just don't ever stop trying!!

I thank all of you for your support. Not sure I could have gotten through this with out it. As of 1/14/2019 I was told I had till February 6 to find a new job. Since then I have had 2 job offers and a upcoming interview on January 30th. Thank God it went this well. Stay strong things can go our way. Look, don’t rule any thing out. Remember we work to live not live to work. Some sacrifices are worth it. God bless you all.
