Anyone have a good “affordable” footwear recommendation for back support?
I started a temporary warehouse job this month that literally requires me to walk from end to end of the distribution center during my shift. I have spend my 30 minute break lying on my back to help relieve the pain and my daily dose of ibuprofen is upsetting my stomach. My girlfriend say’s it’s my shoes and lack of exercise. I went shopping this weekend but all the better brands are $100 and above which is way outside of anything I can afford to buy right now.

If you are not going to drop anything heavy on your feet, get some "Nothinz". They are made of a rubber like material and when you step on them, your weight will be distributed very evenly. They aren't very expensive ($35?) and they are very light. They also slip on and off easily. I am standing for eight hour a day and they keep my feet from hurting. Like you I got crappy feet but these do the job.

Check out insoles for you current footwear. There a large selection of insoles for work type applications. The price range is 20 to 50 dollors a pair. Check out stores that sell quality work boots. They should offer the selection of premium insoles, too.

Sketcher go run. Best

Lance's comment about "Good" boots is right on. They are worth the investment. The other thing is getting the right stuff inside your shoes and boots. Find a good shoe store that has a foot specialist. I don't remember what they are called. they can help you find heel cups and other things that stick inside that will improve how you stand and walk. I used to roll my feet out and run over the heels of my shoes. Now I am straightened out and my shoes wear better. Watch out if someone says one leg is longer than the other and suggests lifts on one side. That put me into misery. You might want to call a local Podiatrist and ask them where they send people to buy shoes. A really good chiropractor can possibly help too. Good Luck.

Insoles are good option if you need immediate relief with little investment but if your considering a long term solution then save a little more $$ and invest in a work boot that will meet all your needs. If you think about the amount of time spent at work and the comfort value the investment makes sense. Look at Timberland, Dexter, and Wolverine brands (steel toe) is a good option for a warehouse. Estimate between $80 - $120.

Try putting Dr. Scholls gel in steps into your shoes, they have the different sizes at Walmart you can find the one that works best for you, I had the same problem they appear to work.I also use arthritis hot on my back.I am in the same line of work

She's right about lack of exercise but do not over do it - when at home keep a pillow behind your back - it will seem like it is hurting you more but its because of previous lack of using one - over time it should help somewhat to do this as often as possible - the lower end of your back is where the pillow should be placed. Do physical therapy but don't Over-do it work itself is physical therapy but you need stretching exercises look up "physical therapy stretching exercises back pain"; cayenne pepper(read: capsacin and anti-inflammatory foods) and bring with you to work and eat one when you are experiencing the worse pain or put the powder on your choice of lunch or in water and drink it - it is a temporary relief if you can handle something spicy I disliked spicy but it was worth it to start eating spicy- it isn't a perfect solution but it helps temporarily. Also look into getting dr. scholls inserts I know a shoe company that makes them with it built into the shoe and it was a fairly cheap shoe I will re-post the brand sometime today. I'm away from home at the moment.
Buy some "Nothinz" they are made from a rubbery material and have at least an inch at the heel. I stand for 8 hours a day and my feet never hurt. They are fairly inexpensive, light, and will slide on and off easily. I have tried most everything and these are the best.
