Customer Service Rep., Cashier, Clerical, Receptionist, Data Entry, Admin Assistant

Confused and back to where I came from except more discouraged then ever.

Well once again back to the drawing. Only this time more discouraged then the last. The final interview with Comcast went great or so I thought. I had a lot of knowledge and questions in the orientation and the interview went well. I asked 2 wonderfully amazing questions or so that's what he told me. In fact he went on for 5 min. answering the first question. When the interview was finished he walked me out and said we will be in touch by phone or possibly email. Of course it was by email. This is what it said....... Thank you for expressing an interest in the Payment Services Representative position. While this has not been an easy decision, we are sorry we can't bring you on board as our next team member for this particular position.A variety of new positions are posted every day, so keep Comcast in mind during your career search. Please revisit our website to explore additional career opportunities. Already applied? You can check the status of your application in the "Job Applications" section of your candidate profile. (really people you have no one because you are the worst in customer service in the world. Maybe the best in services but the worst in customer service.) So my 20+ years of Excellence in customer service must be to good for you then. Like I will EVER apply for you guys again. In fact I don't even want your services.)

Then my friend told me that the supervisor and a manager came down for something and acted like I was hired and she was getting the 1000 dollars for referral. And through conversations with my recruiter that I must say went out of her way for months to even get me to apply. Fabulous lady shity company in my opinion. I was convinced that I had the job. I made a promise to my recruiter not to take another job or fill out anymore applications so i didn't and I turned down 2 great offers because of my word, commitment and dedication to Comcast. I my opinion this is what I think and how I feel. Please let me know your thoughts everyone. I fell the only reason I could possibly have not gotten the job left because they judged me for what my husband did and how he left the company. Which isn't right, isn't fair especially since we are separated and he no longer even lives in the state. So needless to say I have a very disappointing and bad taste in my mouth for Comcast.

Any suggestions people?

So they didn't hire you for one of the millions of open positions they have and now your bad mouthing them on the internet and saying you will never apply again? If you disliked them so much, why did you apply in the first place?

You need to take a step back and think for a second. Just because YOU think you are the greatest thing sliced bread, doesn't mean someone even better didn't apply. When you don't get a position, its best to stay humble and continue your search. What you have done, makes me think they likely made the right decision. I cant imagine what a headache it would be if they had hired you and had to coach and develop you and this is how you reacted to that.

Are you really so naive, or just plain stupid? Since when do you pass on a job offer when you are only a POTENTIAL employee at the other company?

If you haven't signed the contract, you don't have the job!

Where would you really like to work, ideally? Then talk to actual workers there. Find out 1 or 2 of the main problems there. Ask yourself how you might help with them, perhaps with extra training or reading. Write a teaser about this work to their hiring manager. Ask his or her opinion and any suggestions for experiences or training to better meet the company's needs. Doing this reduces your competition drastically!! Mike mikerael30@yahoo.com

Sounds like a breakdown in communication at Comcast. How long ago did this happen? Are you sure they didn't send you that email in error? Based on what you described it seems like the job was yours. In any case, listen, I know it's hard especially when you feel like you crushed the interview and had a good rapport with everyone involved in the hiring process up until the rejection email. The employment community today is impersonal and highly competitive so always keep in mind that the jobs not your until you have an offer. I had to learn this the hard way. I can't tell you the amount of times I've had good feeling or been led to believe I would get hired only to be disappointed. Job seeking is emotional rollercoaster that will often leave you defeated if you don’t learn how to manage it. It’s not personal… it’s business so next time please try not to ever commit yourself fully to one job possibility to the point where you turn down real job offers. Use other offers as leverage for the job you want. Chalk it up as a learning experience and keep it moving forward.
