Senior Proposal Manager

Unpaid wages

A company contacted me through the Internet and asked to do a proposal for them. I agreed, wrote up the paperwork, but after 21 hours the company decided to do a "no bid". I submitted my timesheet three weeks ago and have never received my pay. Tried calling and emailing them. Received one email reply from the CEO stating "I have all intentions of paying you", but still have not received payment.

I called the Legal Aid in VA since the company is in VA and explained to them that I came to St. Augustine, FL for a short while and was contacted by this company located in Chantilly, VA. Explained to them the situation and the woman who answered Legal Aid's phone was extremely nasty and unprofessional. She yelled to me that I need to be a VA resident before they can help. I told her again I am a VA resident it is just that I was contacted concerning a short consulting job while in FL. She said again for me to contact them when I get back to VA.

If anyone knows who I can contact to get my pay straightened out can you please let me know? I do not have enough money to hire an attorney. Thank you so much

Hard Worker

Patricia Church that incredible! Go to the Department Of Labor website and file a claim then use the claim number to inform that employer that you've started the reporting process. Explain that your next stop is the Better Business Bureau, BBB, Glassdoor, Twitter, Facebook and the local news station when you get back to Virginia. It's relatively simple to get legitimate employers to do the right thing these days. No legit business person wants bad press. https://www.dol.gov/whd/howtofilecomplaint.htm
