Cynthia - Have you applied for temporary work? This is a good way to get your foot in the door and to be able to at least make some money short term while looking for more of a career type job. I would also try to reflect on your top 3 - 5 skills and how you may be able to transfer them to different jobs. Sometimes when we are in a position where we need anything, it causes employers not to take us seriously. So if you can show that the skills you have can be utilized in a job, that helps.

Overhaul your resume and get rid of everything past 10 years. 20+ years of experience is great, BUT it dates you and makes for a looooong resume. However, use those skill sets and experience that you learned from that era in your professional summary. Keep your resume 2 pages, max. Get rid of any dates (college graduation, etc) to avoid "dating" you. Stress what YOU can do to SOLVE an employers needs or problem. Use ACTION VERBS to describe what you did in your previous positions, not a "job description." You want to list your accomplishments and active duties.
