Investigation Opened WTH
Like some of you, my last job put us on furlough due to CoVid-19. I field for PUI, received eligibility, debit card and first deposit weeks later...until going into several weeks later, no more deposit. A single deposit since March 29th.
Of course, my curiosity and concern prompted me call my unemployment office. Was told by agents technical issue due to slow, antiquated system. Sure. Just this morning, the truth comes to light. Learned that a previous employer was holding up my receiving further payments. They claimed I did not work a few days which translates into me quitting that job. UNTRUE. I was hired as a seasonal employee. Was let go come mid-January. Also informed by the manager who hired me that my last day was optional since they were letting me go. I elected to not work that day since I had an interview with another job. Whoever was in HR when I filed my claim reported that I did not fulfill three days not one. This is all levels of wrong. I did not quit and it was one day I did not work. To re-iterate, I was told that day was optional to work. So, my claim is under investigation holding up seven weeks of unpaid unemployment. I am told due to volume of claims at this time, each would be handled in order they are received but to continue filing weekly. Ugh. This is frustrating and unfair. That employer wasn’t my last one and they misinformed unemployment office of my departure. Can someone shed light how this will pan out? An agent told me the investigation may not occur due to volume of claims in addition to my getting paid eventually but it will take a while so to basically wait. I am in MS.

Emma that sound terribly frustrating, but honestly sounds like you're taking all the right steps. One thing I would suggest is that you document as much as possible. Write down the facts that you remember (with your prior employer): the dates you had conversations, with who, and what was agreed to. Offering up record/paper trail of what happened can sometimes help case workers. Good luck!
That employer litterally fuked u off. No question. If. Ands. Or buts. They intentionally told then that so they would stop ur payments. My auggestion? Sue the shit out of thd prickass fuk. And if puah comes to shove sue unemployment as well.
