How can I get hired at a job fair?

I’ve been to multiple job fairs and tried everything I can to get hired with no success so I’m looking for tips, recommendations, or a strategy on how I can turn things around and get a job.

Well, They sometimes look at your background, if you have like a police record, or anything..

One thing that can make or break you is your resume. What type of resume do you have? (Functional or chronological). I prefer a more functional resume as it allows you to custom fit which experience you put on there based on the job you want to apply for. Make sure you have some type of core competencies at the top directly under your contact info. Most hiring managers & recruiters will decide in less than 10 seconds if a resume will get seriously looked at or not.

Make sure you get business cards and phone numbers because in my experience following up is key to getting an interview. Good luck.

Wear jacket, white shirt, tie and POLISHED shoes. Your first impression is critical, smile, be happy, show enthusiasm. Research prior to attending who may be a few ideal opportunities for you and read a bit about each of the industries you have interest in. When talking do not interrupt, even if you know the answer, slow down let the question be fully asked and even then, pause, take a second and then answer, it will appear you have put thought to the question before answering.

Sourcing Recruiter at Jobcase

Hi Joshua, I would research a few of the companies that you know will be in attendance at the job. This will provide you with some direction when you get there on who you want to talk to and eliminate you from walking around aimlessly. This will also allow you to look more professional and prepared.

Hello Joshua, Making a good impression at job fair is the key to getting hired. Treat each interaction as a job interview, dress professionally. Speak in a polite and mature manner, bring plenty of copies of your resume. Thanks
