Is there ANY position I can get with my 5 insurance licenses that is an honest job and not a 100% commission gamble?
Title about says it all. Worked at Banker's Life because they sponsored my Life and Health license...100% cold calling on commission and nearly ran myself broke. Colonial Life, Primerica, same thing.
Just got my Property and Casualty license sponsored by Farmer's Bureau on the promise that they'd reimburse me (which they haven't as of yet, I'm considering talking to a lawyer) and found out that it's the same thing. Go pester your friends and family, sign enough business within 3 months or you're out. At stake is a $50,000 salaried position (supposedly) and I am literally out of ideas and contacts.
At this point I'm literally ready to rip my licenses out of their frames and burn them. Is there ANY position at ANY company whatsoever that I can use my hard-earned licenses to earn a decent living with an honest hourly pay or salary?

Hi it's a tough industry, I would not recommend going with commission only jobs they just don't seem to pan out well. Especially if you are still new to the industry. What I can tell you is that I started working for a State Farm agent 17 years ago, got all my licenses and worked hard . I learned everything I could . And I worked my way up to agency manager and have done very well. Once you have that experience you can branch out to brokers and pick the area you like best. Right now the industry is very competitive, and it's going through a lot of changes . It's tough to start out as an agent. Especially if you don't have a ton of contacts and a good deal of money to put out for leads and people to market them. . I have seen many new agents not make it. But start working for an agent , get yourself good experience, and you will find many better doors open for you. I have built a good career in the industry and have many friends who have as well, some went on to work for the actual companies, some went on to be adjusters , underwriters and even agents. It's a good stepping stone and if you work hard and are loyal you will be valued. Also working for an agent I have never paid for my original license not any renewel . Good luck to you

I have been in the industry for 19 years there are good companies out there... you seemed to have found all the ..... ones.. lol. Transamerica, Metlife, Western and Southern, Allstate ( not an agency),to name a few. I have 5 licenses as well and have noticed the changes over time. The best company I ever worked for was the old Liberty Life , make the move to commercial Insurance.

I wish I could tell you something different, its the same everywhere with insurance and licenses. I tried 3 separate times and could not make a go of it.

Hi Jonathan, Have you tried leveraging any of those license credentials for employment opportunities into the Claims, Adjustments, or Underwriting areas of the insurance industry? Sales is where most of the jobs are because that's what ultimately drives the industry but I would think your a good candidate for the administrative roles.
Hi Jonathan, Have you tried self-marketing/networking? The successful agents in my office market on a weekly basis. They are all licensed P&C agents. They drop off collateral, business cards and goodies such as donuts, candy jars etc. to local car dealerships, local realtors, new home developments, apartment complexes etc. Try rewarding referrals from current clients - it could be something as simple as a $10 or $20 gas card/gift card. Contact local businesses to offer an Insurance seminar to their employees - this could be done during a lunch hour or after hours. Check your community events calendar to find events where you could set up a table - have anyone stopping by fill out a form for a door prize (your current employer may be able to fund this as well as small giveaways for your table). These forms can include "Who are you currently insured with?" and "What is your policy expiration date?" About 4-6 weeks before their policy is about to expire, contact them to run a free, no obligation quote. If you've recently sold a policy that had a savings to the policyholder, do a mailout to or call homeowners in that area stating you recently helped their neighbor save money on their insurance and invite them to give you call so you can help them save too. Lastly, you could join you local Chamber of Commerce for more networking activities. Good luck!
