I’m taking classes and also trying to find a job. Are there some positions that will be too time consuming with my classes? Have any other people taken classes and tried to find a job as well? How??

Most employers are more than happy to accommodate an employee who is trying to better their education. However, one of the challenges you may run into is reconciling what you are going to do once you have the degree...in other words, is your current employer likely to extend an opportunity for you to use your new credentials (and pay you for them as well)?

I have done both and can attest that it can be done. You must be organized, hyper-aware of deadlines and be very self-motivated and driven to succeed with little to no supervision. I have completed two degrees in the online environment; I worked while obtaining my first (Bachelors degree) and worked up to my last year of my Masters. I would also recommend that anyone considering an online learning experience to make sure that you are very clear on prioritizing; the higher priority school holds, the better a student is likely to do in school. Online learning is not for everyone. If I can help with any other advice, please feel free to ask me. Best of luck in school...work really hard and use the resources the school provides (tutors, study labs and ebooks) and you will do fine. All the best, Michael

I worked as the Assistant Director full time, was a single parent and was in school. I went to school from 6-10pm during tge week, 10 am-1 on Saturdays and worked 7-4 am during the week. You will have to find whats best for you, that job was what was best for me because my child also attended school where I worked. It was a win win for me.

Hi Armando, There are a lot of jobs out there that will work with your schedule as a student. You just have to find them. Ultimately, the decision of how much time you spend working that still allows you to spend time on classes is up to you. Once you know this, you can look for jobs that would work with that. Retail could be a great option for part time, flexible work. Hope this helps!
