background

I have a misdemeanor assault on my record from 8 years ago now. When applying to new jobs is this required information i have to give them, since it was so long ago? Or do i let it go anyways since they will do a background check? Any information or help is very appreciated!

Jordan, I would be very careful about handling that type of information on an application. Leaving it out will look like your trying to hide something and automatically disqualify you from a job. Adding it to the app could also put's you in a negative light. Find out what's on your record before you start looking for jobs. Use a background check website or other resource to run a self check so you'll be better prepared for those application questions. Try FreeBackGroundCheck.org, http://freebackgroundcheck.org/

Hi Jordan: Thanks for posting to Jobcase! I think when you apply to most jobs, they'll automatically ask you if you have a background right within the application process. But for those other cases, I suggest you check out this great article for some stellar advice: https://www.denverlibrary.org/how-respond-felony-question
