Was able to walk into a classroom as a trained teacher and certified behavioral management specialist and immediately get the kids under control and in their seats ready or the day. Many times teachers would text me or call me to come in and sub for them because I was so organized and well versed and comfortable with the students.

Secondly, I have an uncanny ability to relate to and develop relationships with people quickly. I have a high emotional intelligence level and intuitive sense that allows me to recognize an immediate problem that no one else can see. Many times the students would get really excited when they knew I was going to be subbing for their classroom. Many times I was called by the teachers who had the most difficult behavioral and emotionally disturbed students who didn't respond to the typical bring down the hammer approach that most teachers use. Many of these students are so used to being beaten down at home that when they get to school its like a reprieve for them. If they feel like they are always in the cross-hairs of a certain teacher or administrator, they will shut down and you wont get anything except screaming and yelling or kicking and attacking which then makes things worse.
Many children have never experienced attention much less nurturing and love from home. Why should we expect anything different from them at school. Whenever I have a student who pushes me away and says nothing I do is going to get him to work, I say, "Game On!" I like a challenge and am always one who will win. Sometimes it takes time and patience and very covert attempts on my part as a teacher while managing 28 other students to keep them engaged and excited about learning and actually being a part of the classroom.
So if you would ask me how I have made things better, I would have to say, I have shown the others and many students that I am consistent yet flexible. I definitely used consequential enforcement, I am a firm believer in positive enforcement. After all Christ used positive enforcement for the entire world when He died so that we could live regardless of how bad or sinful we are. He provided a way out. Not without consequences, but with constant love and forgiveness.
