Executive Director Social Service Agencies

My question is about references. Yes, life happens, and many places have given me a shot. With so many acquisitions, mergers, lay offs, etc., I'm having trouble finding people I reported to, or even if some places have totally changed their name. Any suggestions?

Look for another alternative. A previous co-worker or teacher are some examples of references I've used in the past with no problems. Just make sure you contact them beforehand to let them know to expect a call from the recruiter.

Hi Laura,

I know it can be hard sometimes to track down references, but remember, these are very important. You want to make sure you have people that you trust and you know well. If you are having trouble reaching certain people, try calling into some of your old employers and ask them if specific people are still working there. If they are, ask to be transferred to them or if you could get an email address. You can also try tracking them down, utilizing social media and connecting with them on different platforms. You should be very proactive on trying to reach them, as references are vital in the interview process.

Good luck,

Mark
