Terminated due to a Zero Tolerance policy I did not know about.
As the title says, I was terminated due to a zero-tolerance policy on safety. The kicker is that I was never shown or told that they have a policy like that. The safety documentation from both companies ( I was employed by one, and we supported the equipment that the other company used) states up to termination, nowhere in it does it say zero tolerance. Luckily I have gained employment again (I start this morning) with another company, and will be okay, I was wondering if this could be fought and get some restitution from it?

If this happened in Texas it is a At Will State meaning they can terminate you and really don't have to say why. Georgia also.

Not sure, sorry to hear. It's all right you didn't know. It is probably good that a different company hired you. Good luck at your new job.

I have never been terminated by Jerry's J Boy nor any other company in twenty-five years

Depends if you are in a right to work state

I never work at Marshalls a day in my life..

First of all let me say this...this company might start have a big turn over of employees because of this policy.. but on the other hand its a good thing that you found another job because you don't want to work for a company that don't do proper safety training no way...if you can fight it. I don't know because in a right to work state they can fire you without cause. good to see that you have another job! and I wish you much success on your present job.

Wow that is so crazy

that has happen to me now, I think that's why I lost a good couple of jobs, said they would set up interviews ,and no hear from either jobs and called back to the jobs and they said filled the job

You have a certain amount of time to file a grievance. Check with your employee hand book to see the time frame
When you get hired they usually give you a brunch of paper work to sign and read when they hirer you maybe you just filled out the application, and did not read throught all the paper work, and that is how you might have miss the no tolerance policy paper.
