I found out just over a year I can never be re-hired because over 20 years ago a manager I never even met put in my file that I was fired because of inappropriate behavior. We were in between managers at the time and I had requested a day off 3 weeks in advance, wrote it on the calendar. When the schedule was made, I was scheduled that day. I called and explained that I was hosting a party and could not work that day. He told me I had to find replacement or work the day. I told him since I scheduled it in advance that I didn't feel I should have to look for replacement and that I would not be able to come in. He hung up angry with me. When I went to check my schedule I was told by associates I was removed from it. I assumed he took what I told him as I quit. I never received notice that I was fired, so I never questioned it until I went to apply and called corporate. I was told the information I mentioned previously. How can a company not allow someone to never work for them again? It's not like I have a criminal record and my work history is good.
