Welder at Royal Truck Body

I went for a welding job

I was hired by a welding company today and I went for a drug screen and passed it with flying colors I go back to the welding company and the hiring manager said oh we made a mistake we’re not going to hire you we hired a much younger guy now before I went there I told the hiring manager that I had another job offer and he said he would offer me more money if I went to work for him so I passed on the other job and then they made a mistake so I am out looking for a job again

First off everyone thank you for you help the man who did this is the owner of the company and yes I did a contact with him everything was signed and dated I spoke with a lawyer and we filed charges against his company the DA is also looking into it I am going to sue his b-lls off believe that last week he called my lawyer and asked how much money do I want my lawyer called me and told me to ask for 10 million I said no I am not a greedy person so I said make it $200,000 a year for the next 20 years and pay my lawyer 1 million that should be enough we all had a meeting and he signed the deal so I am set for the next 20 but the DA is pressing chargers all he has to do is pay a fine but hey he had it coming

"Hired a much younger guy" -report/open an EEOC case pertinent to the protected area -age discrimination. 2) Keep moving fwd., -that "boss" would have been DAILY fiyaaah in ur veins.

That is just downright DIRTY, DISGUSTINGLY WRONG!!! Go over his damn head and speak with somebody who can help. If all else fails, contact Equal Employment Opportunity, Legal Aid, or if you can afford it, a lawyer! I'm pissed for you! Keep your head held HIGH!!!

Tim, did you get the preferred job's offer in writing? If so, you've grounds for breach of contract. If not, well, I don't think there's much you can do. BTW, I am REALLY surprised that the hiring manager mentioned that they hired a YOUNGER employee. That right there could be grounds for an age-discrimination lawsuit, but absent corroborating documentation it would be your word against his. Of course, if you could subpoena the employment records and compare the younger worker's experience and work history to yours, and were your experience and work history demonstrably superior, you might have a case. Regardless of whether you decide to pursue redress in the courts or not, the take-away is this: a bird (on this case, employment offer) in hand beats two in the bush. Next time you find yourself in the position of having a definite job offer and another pending, take the one you are offered. You can always drop it if the other job materializes. Oh, one more thing, always get your job offers in writing.

Definitely "age discrimination" - If this is "exactly" what he said to you and you have the time - I would definitely report them to EEOC....so sorry this happened. Stay strong..and keep moving forward!

I have seen this time and time again when people put so much trust in the manager that hired them to removing them from the job opportunity in hand. You can not share information like that, it's too soon. Never go into a company thinking that everyone is for you. People talk and it only takes one person from the company to tell the manger about what you have shared with them. Please be mindful of your conversations that you share with others. So many times I have seen people get hired one week and fired the following week because of their conversations. So never tell the manager everything about you they have not earned that privilege. Some things you can not share and must keep it to yourself.
