Discouraged

I was hired at a company and they gave me 5 whole days to learn the job before they cut me loose. Said I wasn't picking up speed like they wanted to see. However they did say based on other aspects of my job performance that they would be willing to give me a reference.

Don't blame yourself for anything take this as an experience and take the reference they give you and say thank you and go and find another job where they appreciate your services and experience a lot better and you will be more happy somewhere else. Some manager's out there are as dumb as a rock and don't even know what the hell they're doing, we wonder sometime how they ever got the job. Don't take it personal use this as an experience and you will do better somewhere else for another manager that will appreciate your work ethics. "Wherever you go just do your best and you will be okay."

I wouldn’t take the reference. I was hired for a private law office and let go after 3 months because the head attorney thought I wasn’t catching on quickly enough, and she wanted to develop my position - but feared I would struggle. She also said she would write me a letter of recommendation and give me a referral, but I will not ask her - 3 mths is hardly enough time to even give me a chance.
It sounds like you are better off, even though it sucks.

Hi Mary my name is Kyle. Sounds like a good deal. I’m starting a business and starting off small but want it to grow. It’s a mechanic business so the work isn’t very hard. If you’re interested please message me. If not, I have alot of job recommendations for you depending on what you you like or know. Either way, feel free to message me.

Take the reference and run. It sounds as if they a) had someone already lined up for the job or b) expected you to already know there things. It seems unreasonable to expect you to pick things up and be perfect in only 5 days.

You are “lucky” enough to have someone even offer you a reference. Take it, and move on!!! You can do better than that without the stress!! You can do this...

Caregiver at Home Health Agencies

I was hired at a job, and they "trained" me for a month. Every day it was some contradictory 'rule'. Then they decided they were "terminating" their partnership with me. No write-ups, no nothing. Just bullshit. Plus, they paid only $12.00 a frigging hour. Ridiculous. Glad to be out of there.

What job were you training for? 5 days doesn't really sound like enough time for anyone, even if it's just cashier work or something. Sorry they cut you loose so soon. :c I'd really only use them as a reference if I was short on references, considering how brief your time was as an employee. Honestly, though, it's still up to you! If you believe they could be reliable in giving you a solid reference, then go for it! I wish you luck in finding another job! c:
