The toughest interview question is
How much are you looking to make? (sorry I forgot to go back and edit my question, I had gloves on!)

Hello, I help people with this question all the time. So many of the other answers are right in parts....1. Do your homework on position, industry, location, ed, experience.2. Decide on a $10,000-$15,000 base range. 3. Make a list of your non-negotiables on soft compensation. 4. Be ready to establish your "market" value based on your skills, knowledge, achievements, and talents, SKAT.

I want to be compensated like other top performers in this position.

Turn the question around. What does your business feel a person with my experience and talents deserve?

Myself as well, although I am a very direct and straightforward individual. I don't sell myself very well, never have. Although I have had some interesting positions throughout my life...

when it comes to salary questions, i try to know the company and position requirements before i go in. where i have problems is with personality questions (strengths, weaknesses, etc.).

Many times you can find the recommended salary on glassdoor. It is a website were employees review companies they work or have worked for. It also provides recommended salary ranges.

I come back with asking what the salary range they are offering. Sometimes I get an answer, sometimes not.

Laurel, that can be a tough interview question unless you do your homework on the job.
