Feeling Fustrated

Help me please, It seem like I look for jobs for nothing, I have a BS in Criminal Justice GPA 3.9 (2012). I just can't catch a break. I'm 39 and definitely not getting younger. I live in Virginia.

First off... stop looking for a job... LOOK FOR A POSITION ... PEACE BE STILL... I'll said it again lowercase.. Peace be still... Don't let anxiety run you... You know you've used your key to open your door a hundred times and it works... but be in a HURRY to open the same door and you won't get it opened. You are a serious contender for a whole lot of shit... 3.9 GPA with a degree in the sciences... do not sell yourself short... scale up... you'll be a major addition to anyone's work force.. look at opportunities which may not be related to you expertise in education... try and get a position at the university you went to... and one more thing if you're talking about how messed up things are... that's how they will continue to be... because that's what you believe... However, you can change that... Also your friends will assist you in your grief... they will co-sign your agony... STOP TALKING TO THEM (FOR NOW) I know this is easier said than done ... You're standing on a rock solid foundation... Get out there and get turned down repeatably... You're only looking for one YES! I hope this helps... GO GET YOU SOME BUCKS AND SOME BENNIES!

LaKesha - You can try law enforcement. Quite a few police departments are turning to non-enforcement/civilians (investigators for certain special situations) to staff offices to get more trained police/law enforcement people on the streets. It's a "work your way up the ladder" situation, but with a degree, it won't take you long to climb. Private security is also a good way to start. They do more than "escort" service and drive "stars" around. The military is also a good bet with your degree and is something that will definitely stand out on your resume. It doesn't pay much, but the experience is invaluable and the training to-tier (yes...I'm a Veteran - Army).

Your college degree does indeed help. Recheck your resume format. I just went through this my gpa was 3.92. My advice is to check out your local dept of labor office, see if you have any resume writing or interview taking seminars that may help you get that job. It's free and a good resource. Also look at dept of justice, USA jobs too. Best wishes.

The truth is, college degrees really don't help with employment. I have two with no work. Certifications are what employers are looking for, someone with experience and training.
