Haven't heard back after applying to a job at the Chicago job fair?
You came to the job fair, you were prepared with your resume, you talked to people and applied to a few opportunities. Now would be the time for follow up with a hiring manager about that job. Even if you weren't able to make it to the fair, how do you find out who to follow up with and what to say?
Here's a great resource that can help you find the manager's email:

What about calling the company? Does that ever work?

I always write something along the lines of:
Dear So and So,
I recently applied for the position of [title] and I wanted to reach out to see if you had any updates on your decision timeline.
For your convenience, I've attached my resume. Please let me know if you need any additional information. I can be reached at [phone] or [email]. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Carlos

Chicago is an hour 1 way and I dont want my vehicle on blocks while working

I posted my resume, have not heard anything yet.

Consider this at a fair there are literally 1000’s of people applying for a couple of jobs at each company. You need to be proactive if you expect a chance. Find out the person doing the hiring. Target letters and phone calls to them. Even consider retargeting your resume directly to the job. Include excerpts in your letters. Be a pest.

Great topic. Thank you.

I would usually just keep it short and simple and just say the job I applied to, when I did and ask when should I expect to hear back? You can always add that you're so excited about the position, which is why you're following up.

How long do I need to wait after applying for a job to contact the manager?
I haven't heard back from a few places yet. I'll use the tips in the article to help me follow up, thanks!
