Merchandiser at Sas Retail Service

Out of work to long, and i'm to old:

My name is Cathy. I just turned 59.. I worked for Michaels Arts & Crafts for 15 plus years as their Dept. Maneger for the art dept. I have not worked for the past 20 years due to family maters. It seems no one really wants to talk to me because I have been out of work for so long, and my age seems to be a factor.. I really need to find work so I can eat and keep my roof over my head. I am to old to be living on the streets, but not to old to go back to work. What can I do? The Dollar Tree in whittier is looking for an assistant manager, and I know I could do the job.

Accounts Receivable Clerk at Meggitt North Hollywood Inc

I am 68 and just got hired at a new Wal-Mart opening in Burbank. I can't live on my social seniority check and am grateful for this opportunity. They still have openings so if anyone is interested apply online.

Hang in there Catherine, age bias is real. I am in the same situation over 50 and can't get a job even with a recent ungraduated degree and technical skills. Prayer is really are only hope.

Hi there. Try registering with temp agecncies. They have lots of jobs that you will fit into nicely. And they will pursue things that will be a fit fou you. Lowes and Target as some options you can pursue . but I highly suggest the agencies. You may get in as a file clerk or receptionist. Even Ross or the Goodwill or the 99 cent store will hire peoplee of your age. But try the agencies too. You will be surprised at how quickly your in box will fill up with opportunities. Don't feel defeated that shows. Go with exuberance and confidence. You got this. With the agencies you may have to work temp assignments but many times the org will see your value and it could lead to perm work. Go get get them girl. You still bring value.
