How can I get a teen counselor job without a degree?
My dream job would be working with troubled teens in my community if I could qualify for a job opportunity that doesn’t require a counseling degree or special certification.

I work with the mental health community as a volunteer and have been for years. This year, past, I was given the responsibility of the psychological care for a man with a TBI. The work was very interesting and informative. I am looking for a paid position, now, but I won't get what I know I am worth, without the sheepskin. OJT is your quickest way to get what you seek!

I would look into Catholic charity for volunteers work and hopefully they can help you .Good Luck!

Hi Emma, I can suggest you check into working at a group home for troubled teens. I might also suggest you work as a house care giver at an orphanage for older children. Where I live we have two and there is definitely a need. Best wishes!

Hi Emma, Check in with North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts. nccourts.org Alice

Become a volunteer and receive Hans on training

Try volunteering to start at a facility that works with the group you are looking to help. I am in NYS and there are so many both private and public organizations. You might also check with the Department of Corrections. I use to teach in a residential school where children and young adults were removed from their homes for various reasons, possibly you could work as a teacher assistant or if they live in cottages (as the one I work at) possibly you could become one of the "cottage parents" If this is the field you want to go into then you really should consider advancing your education.

Or even better is this Minnie.

Youth counselor
You could get work at the YMCA or YWCA or work at a neighborhood center with a after school program.
