Scams

I have received several emails from people requesting an interview, mostly stating they are a European company moving to the US. You can spot these easily looking for the following: email address name is not the same as name in the body of the email; they do not actually state the name of the company; the domain email is not a business (abcd@eircomm or zoso); if you click on the email it is a jumble of letters and numbers; the email does not include an actual name after the salutation). Also if there is a company name, look it up or call. One company I looked up was decommissioned in the 1960's. Too good to be true = it is fraudulent. Do not give them your info.

I've had similar emails recently and in the past. Since I'm unemployed and looking. I keep a log book of who & when I applied for a position. If its not one of them I don't bother with it. Thank you for bringing it up.

Same goes for all these insurance companies no one ever heard of. I get those all the time. "Liberty American National Fidelity Consolidated Insurance need agents in your area. Life, health, home, auto. No cold calls. Leads provided!!!!"

They don't tell you that you have to pay for those "leads". It's a scam folks. Not a real job.

you are right Bridget. Another red flag to me is requesting an interview on Google. There are a lot of scammers out there. They rely on the desperation of job seekers and how crappy it can get. Just use some common sense. Because no matter how bleak the future may seem it can always get worse.
