I've worked for this employer for 11yrs with an oral contract that once he sold the business he would pay me for staying on until he sold it once his business was sold he has not made any effort to pay me my money I've talk to him several times about it but all I get is excuses I also recorded our oral contract I think it's time I talk to a lawyer if any one have suggestions I'm ready to hear them

Don't wanna be this guy but unless they knew you were recording it probably do you no good. Carma will get em in the end. Good luck with it

Another issue that you're going to run into, depending on what state you're in, unless he knew you were recording your conversation it's illegal. Some states, very few states allow you to record a conversation without the other person's knowledge and permission. In some states just as the one I live in only one of the parties that are part of the conversation need to permit it so if it's me that's recording the conversation I'm aware of the recording so I don't need the other person's permission. But that's only in a few States so everybody who's reading this take heed. In today's day and age with YouTube and cameras that's one thing but you still should never do it without someone's permission but it's not illegal. However recording someone's conversation most likely is illegal in your state so you need to check that out before you start doing it.

Sorry Oral Contarcts are not valid in any state don't waste your time getting a lawer.

Glenda,
What kind of deal did you have with him? I'm not sure why he would have to pay you after selling his business, as he no longer owns it. Some clarification on this would be helpful. If not, consult with a lawyer and see if you have a case.
Just take him to court so they could lock on all his assets until he pays you..
