Please Stop!

I might be old but I’m not stupid. I hate how managers try take advantage of honest people struggling to find a job to keep from losing everything in their life. They think our desperation automatically makes us easy targets to lure in and accept whatever crummy jobs they’re offering. Today marks the 3rd time I’ve been misled by companies offering jobs and wages that don’t exist. The first 2 were bait and switch cons and the job I was contacted about today is flat out scam. How can I avoid these predators and still keep my contact information available online for legit job offers?

Yup, that's part of the reason I like this website, it helps me learn more about the kinds of recruiters and scams to avoid.

It is very wrong, but think about how you can turn it to your advantage. You don't "have" to take any job. If they keep hounding you for jobs you don't want you can treat them as practice interviews.

Linda, go to staffing agencies. They have relationships with companies and normally have several types of openings. Temporary, Temp to Perm and Permanent. These staffing agencies are free for people searching for positions and they will contact you when they have a job and salary that meet your requirements. I know it's hard out there, I've been looking for over and year. Try to stay positive and best of luck!
