Sorry, not sorry
What happened to work ethics and good morals? Where did this "me" mentality and entitlement come from? How hard is it to come to work, clock in, do your job, and go home? Good employees don't stay because they have to deal with petty drama and hostile situations. Managers think it's cool to be friends with the staff, drinking and complete fratenizing with them. Now, the staff don't respect them anymore, and the new employees get crapped on if they don't partake in the shenanigans.
Don't give into the garbage. Do what you have to do to be successful. Keep your head high. Fight for your piece of the pie. If you have to, move on. Don't feel bad because it will leave them short. They wouldn't feel bad about letting you go.
You do you...and you will build your empire of success!

It's the way they are raised

Shut the troll up and Wake Up!!!

And how important are they that they are constantly checking their cell. If you approach them about it the big attitude comes out. I don't pay people to be on their phone and would prefer they leave it in their car or in my office so I can keep track how many times they are on it. Likewise I don't walk around on my cell. Entitled and no work ethic. Want me to solve all their issues, won't use their head and "think". Ask them to do something and they say "I don't know how" not could you show me how its done. Their idea of work is showing up and taking up space. Social club is exactly what they think work is, a way to meet new people to hang out with. I agree once the manager-employee line is crossed there is no respect at work. Most people like structure and when there is none the good employees leave. When your employee sees you at your worst, when they know too much about your personal life how can you correct them when they are wrong or give them discipline? Now you have your favorites. Its bad for everyone. Sorry to be so windy, it's a subject I am passionate about. You did well not to become a part of the trend but travel by the beat of your own drum. Anyone can be a follower, few can truly lead.

That is why I left my last position. If you did not show up for the drinking it was rude. Glad I am gone.

It was exactly what i need to hear

I believe this started with the Gen Y work crowd. They graduate college, and feel like they are entitled to special treatment, should be treated with kid gloves. I’m a preGen X person. I work hard for what I need, work overtime when it’s offered, and try to be friendly with my co-workers and bosses.

Damnnnnn..all that truth...loaded with bigfacts!!

So very sad but true,,some just have never learned how to distinguish business from work...too many companies have this problem obviously,,,Been there done that probably will have too deal with it again in order to gain employment,,.... Breaks right...keep on keeping on...

This is what happens when companies refuse to hire older workers that have a work ethic. I am by no means saying no younger people have a good work ethic but, too many of them are laying out of work, playing during work time, coming in with hangovers and goofing off at work. Start caring about and hiring more older workers.
