Are you better off than your parents were at the same age?

Isn’t this the backbone standard of The American Dream? How many of you can honestly say or think that you're better off economically than you parents were at the same age? Many say NO and blame slow economic growth and income inequality while others say YES and credit more access to education and technological advances have lead to better job opportunities and new job markers. What do you say?

My parents were better off than me but they also managed to stay together. I make more than my mother earned when she was my age and working but I’m also a single parent so my income doesn’t stretch out as much.

Yes, education wise but have to say not yet economically because I should be further along than my parents who never had a college education.

My comment to the post is ...yes I do think I am better off then when my parents where my age because..the the opportunity of getting a good job is better than it was when my parents was my age because of Technology because when my parents were my age you have to have a college degree to get a good job.. nowadays it's not what you know but who you know

Kinda difficult to compare due to the change in living standards. See college was a luxury when my mom and dad graduated in the 50's... But now college is a hard to come by necessity in the 80's when I finished. But now my daughter finished in 2014 and it was a choice thing. And that because the kids now can advance without the college degree. And the college degree of today don't carry the clout as in days of old. It's who you know and who you push down along the way....

Hard to say but I would say that I earn more than my parents did at my age but I'm able to but or own less than they did. I don't know how blue collar workers were able to buy and pay off large purchases and investment like homes, vehicles, and college educations within a relatively short period of time. I feel like even though I earn more now It will still take me a lifetime to payoff my debt.
