I cost too much?

I’m applying for a job that asks me to attach my salary requirements to the application. I’ve never been asked to give a salary requirement and I was always under the impression not to discuss salary until the company makes an offer first. I’m concerned about overpricing myself out of the job. How should I approach this?

Open to Negotiation is a good way to respond without over or under pricing yourself.

Thats not such an uncommon questions to be asked during the hiring process. Research current salaries before responding to make sure your placing yourself within the market value.

Include a salary rage in your cover letter but make sure you mention salary terms are negotiable to keep yourself in the race.

Always know what your minimum acceptable salary is and either convey 10% above that or a salary amount in the middle range of what you would like. The 10% usually takes into consideration part of inflation, taxes, and cost of living hikes in the coming year.
