Please Help. I am so desperate. I'll send you my resume.Things are really bad for my family
I've been out of work for 2 years...2 YEARS!. I live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and have gone on countless interviews without any success. It really takes a toll on my confidence and relationship with my family.The only companies wanting to hire me are pyramid sales schemes. Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and all the other job sites contain mostly these job listings, and you spot them from a mile away.
Does anyone have any advice on how to break through an interview with a reputable company and not these sales jokes? I dress professional, I'm polite and professional, I usually have 4-6 questions to ask, I prepare for the questions that I think will be asked, I'm always punctual, I have management, project management, training, customer service(call center and retail), and a solid degree from NIU. I can't help but beat myself up. I have all these mid-level credentials and cannot land a job.
I'm desperate for the sake of my family and can't take much more. My relationship with my wife hasn't been the same ever since this occurred. We argue everyday and if we don't argue, we simply ignore each other. And we have a 6 y/o caught in the middle of all this.
Please help. I'm begging for any help. Thank you all for reading this and thank you in advance for any help you can provide.Not only does my career depend on it. I want my family back. Thank you.
Just to get your foot in the door,lower your bar of expectations and apply for something outside of your field of expertise until you get that ideal job. Most of the time we get so caught up in the "perfect" that we overlook the ones that can bring a steady income until an opportunity presents itself. As for your family, ask your wife if she knows anyone who's hiring, maybe if you create that line of communication and get her involved in your search, that could mend the tension between the two of you, but utilize that time to help each other and if you have a dispute, don't do it in front of your child because kids pick up on these things and they start to think that it is the new norm of communication. But swallow your pride and apply to something, because it's better than nothing for now, my friend. Maintain a positive attitude and and watch that seed grow. Hope this helps.

Im sorry you are experiencing this. I would suggest if you have an Office Team/Robert Half agency they may be able to help you with a job. Good luck and I hope things change soon for you and your family.

I don't know how it runs in your city, but out here in Jersey they have a program called one-stop careers and they help people find jobs around their way, so look into that and see if they have one near you and enter it, it's free.
