Manufacturing Engineer at Daikin Applied
Report
The biggest mistake I made as a #ManufacturingEngineer at #DaikinApplied ...
Standing up for yourself, telling the truth, call it like it really is...after 4+ years working the production floor and working side by side with production and maintenance personnel one learns the factory capabilities and limitations. Unfortunately Daikin has a serious management turnover problem, here are some statistics in my 6 yrs 8 months:
- 7 line supervisors in 9 months.
- 6 ME managers.
- 5 EH&S managers.
- 4 plant mangers.
- 3 directors of engineering.
- 3 maintenance managers. The sum result: each new manager comes in with some new gun-ho idea without ever learning the factory or caring to understand those employees with first line hands on experience and product knowledge. And what happens? another stupid fact less idea of which puts everyone (salary and hourly) in a tailspin and their new idea fails miserably. Of course these overpaid managers and directors will attempt to blame the failure of their plan on the incapable implementation by the ME floor support personnel and/or lack of hourly personnel follow through. And then the manager/director leave and move on to the next job leaving the plant in the hole again. So, you realize you cannot continue to compromise your values or the truth and you speak up for both...this got me in trouble...I knew too much. Incompetent managers see you as a threat...the truth.
