Right or Wrong

I have a friend got fired from work because he posted a photo of himself while at work in his social media account.

At the same company, some chicks posted a video of what they are doing inside their room.

My Question is which of the two scenarios should get fired from that workplace?

Both. When you post from work it shows you aren't working but doing you. Work is work, not me time. I would feel like you weren't interested in your job or just being lazy so I can fill your slot with somebody else.

The lesson to learn here is...your image and actions will always be an outcome...good or bad...the choice is yours...if your jobs have a reputation, rules and policies, then its your choice as an employee to either respect that or not. Like it not your actions , good or bad, will always get a reaction...which reaction is Your choice..just be able to handle the consequences...lets flip it...but your looking at this wrong...question is...instead of wasting your valuable time posting on ...crap....why are you not WASTING your time bettering your skills or experience at work or on for a better future??? Better yet which one is worst (your private life not so private)....first person post how he spent helping the homeless at a shelter (enriching somesone else's life)..or the other person post a picture of themselves in vegas DRUNK ABD WASTED with friends....??? Both "private" postings....dont want to be judged... Stop posting crap. Just a thought. God bless

Regarding your friend, that's a little edgy. The photo of him at work could have been construed as his holding himself out as a company representative (which he in fact is). Maybe he was creating a photo to say, "See folks at home? I made it!" However, not everyone is going to see that.

Maybe he was trying to show what a great employee he is. There needs to be clearance to do company publicity so that it can be done properly. Maybe a warning would have been more appropriate if there had been no training or guidance on social media content.

Regarding the two women, it isn't clear what the video was about. If it was merely a video of them doing something in their residence, I don't see the harm. If it was a video of them doing something inside their office space we need to look deeper into what was being captured. Was it training and was there clearance to do the training? Need more information on that one.

It all depends on the company policy. It also depends on the number of company violations. For example: In the first scenario, termination may be warranted if there were other work violations or warnings. In the second scenario, if it was a 1st violation or warning, termination may not be warranted. It all depends on the circumstances of the incident(s).

What you do in your own space on your own time is your business as long as it's not something heinous but when you are at work you never ever record or post anything because you never know what your company does or does not want to be public and let's face it it is their company and not yours and their opinion is the only one that matters if you want to continue getting a paycheck. Sometimes you just have to suck it up and do what you're told that doesn't mean you have to like it but you do have to do it

It really all depends on company policy and who you know. I think that if it's your break do what you like. But while on company time do what you're supposed to do. To avoid this problem
