My old job just threw me away...
I have worked in customer service for as long as I can remember. I love it. I love people. I am THAT person the happy one in the office who smiles a lot. A few months back my previous job fired me after 4 loyal years. I was heartbroken. They downsized the company and I was out like yesterday’s trash. Then flash forward to this week I had my first interview with Wayfair. I really love this company and I truly want this job. What do I do now???

Wish u luck I love people too and currently trying to acquire a position w people and pay my bills you r gonna get it!

First of all, you weren't FIRED. You were LAID OFF due to downsizing and lack of work. There is a BIG difference. Being fired makes you look bad. Being laid off due to downsizing, does not. Make sure you use the right terminology when applying to new jobs!!! Second, if Wayfair offers you a job, take it and don't look back. Any job is better than no job when you need money. If you don't like it, you can always look for something better in the meantime.

Dont lose hope

Take time to reflect. After each situation we go through, I believe that it is important to take time and reflect. I identify with you, Sylvia. I too have had many years of working in the customer service industry. I have learned that when we are let down by others, we are left vulnerable. We worry. I took some free courses on becoming a wellness coach. If you are struggling and need any assistance, you are more than welcome to contact me. I have worked in food, retail, office, but the greatest part of customer service was helping others that I came into contact with. My old professor from college gave us an assignment. Building your own business. It is actually a lot easier than it sounds. There are so many free courses on business management and you get certified. Taking an occupational assessment could also be of help during this time. There are also community resources you could look into. I received help in attending college and as a work first student. There are many opportunities out there, just keep your head up and when you go out, put a smile on your face. I have noticed that when I smile, the people I see in grocery stores and places I go, tend to smile back.

Go to Hawaii and get vacation for 5 years

I would say bring all the loyalty you had in the previous employers domain and bring the same attributes to Wayfair. I do not know much of the company, I expect though they are a better ethically suited company for your needs.

Must be a "Sylvia" thing, I as well am very passionate about my Customers.

Dear Sylvia,
There is an expression "You cant drive forward while looking back". The time is now to focus on doing what you do best -Customer Service!!! Use your flair and zeal to do research on wayfair. Look at thier marketing strategy and tailor your resume accordingly. List your major accomplishments and also ask your girlfriends and family for input. It is a fact women consumer spend more money on home goods. Develop great cover letter that mentions thier commercials and thier customer base. Always Remember that one employers trash could very well be another's treasure.
Besr.of Luck to you! .William D.Brockington CDF

Call ask if they have made any decisions regarding the position and that your available if they have any further questions. A thank you note/ email as follow up to interview is usually first step, phone call is not out of line at all. What's the worst that can happen, lots of companies take a few day's to select after interviews,, and not all selected accept.. and some selected don't actually show up.. so keep your hat in the ring and call. I've hired and had newbies work 1 hour, 1 day, come in drunk, I've always hesitated saying the position has been filled because life is full of surprises. So check back. If they say position has been filled ask if their are any other postings that may be coming open. Good Luck
Send a hand-written thank you note to your interviewer. (Or email, if you don't have their mailing address, but hand-written is better).Thank them for taking the time to interview you. Reiterate how much you love the company and that you are very interested in the position. End with a short couple of sentences about why you would be a great fit for the company. State that you are eager to take the next step in the hiring process. Then, wait two weeks. If you don't hear anything, call them to say you are interested in the position and to inquire about the next step in the hiring process. Good follow-up will make you stand out among other candidates. Good luck!
