Wrongfully terminated needing advise!
What's happening everyone. I need some advise on what to do maybe you all can help me out. I live in Colorado and I was working for DCP Midstream. I was there a little over 2 years and I really enjoyed my job. I was a mechanic there, The problem was a new supervisor who came in trying to pretend to be my friend. I knew he did not like me but I gave him the benefit of the doubt. I know big mistake right! So my lead had a problem of always cutting corners and doing his job unsafe. When I went in told told the supervisor of his wrong doing he would tell me that he would talk to him but never did. So that went on for sometime, I should of known that they were both buddy buddy with each other when the lead got mad for turning him in he decided to go in and tell his boyfriend that I'm always on the phone and I didn't want to listen to him and all that junk. The new supervisor called me in and wrote me up for all that, when I told him that I would show him my bill he didn't want it. To end the story we were working on the unit that was locked out by another employee who was an operator. The unit was locked out tagged out properly so there was no way of anyone one getting hurt or possibly damaging the unit in any way shape or form. Myself and 2 other mechanics were about to work on that unit, I was going around and double checking the lock out while the other 2 started working on it. We were all supposed to put our additional locks on the lock box but we all forgot about it. We were on it for about 30 minutes working. Keep in mind I was reviewing this while the other 2 worked on it. Then the supervisor came out saying that I didn't have my lock on it and so on, I told him non of us did so he told us all to write out a report on why we forgot. A week later he said I have to go in for a meeting and I was expecting like a few people the way he talked that he didn't know what their decision was at all when I went in I seen that the meeting was by my supervisor and the HR that's it and he told me that I worked on the unit that was not locked out properly which was bull cause it was locked out we just didn't have our locks on it. When I asked about the other 2 mechanics he protected them by saying the lead just got there and didn't get the chance to put his lock on it the other he says he had his lock on it. That was a lie cause I put my lock on before the other 2 mechanics and there was only one lock on it, He needed to protect the other mechanic cause this was his second violation and would of gotten fired but because they all get together and suck on each other I got fired for not joining in. So at the end of the day I guess instead of trying to keep people safe just let them get hurt that's why DCP has people getting hurt cause instead of fixing the problem they get buddy buddy and fire the person trying to do the right thing cause they just don't want to hear it. Now I don't know about you but if I see something unsafe I'll tell you once but if you continue I'll turn you in, in my case I got fired for it.if there's any lawyers out there that reads this let me know what you think. Should I seek a lawyer go to the media what do you guys think I should do? Let me know and thanks for listening!

....Back in the day, we used to settle this kind of ' stuff ' by going out into de parking lot---then, afterwards... we were all Best Buddies....Ahhhh, the good ol' Days...

Shoot I was to wrongfully terminated been working at my previous job for 8 years and get fired bc people were asking me why a former employee got fired. That's why I got canned ... my bf got canned bc he didn't use a cart pusher thing. It's bogus

No worries Lorenzo, I'm always happy to help! You mentioned that you thought your age was making it difficult to find work. I found a couple of great convos on here that might help in terms of how to approach your job search as an older worker: https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/b80a72ed-a24b-5740-9aee-6f8b7541c1ac and https://www.jobcase.com/conversations/fd317ff6-8c61-55bf-a831-0c95316d8db3 Let me know if any of this helps!

Wow, I'm sorry that happened to you, Lorenzo. I would definitely contact an employment lawyer about this, but I also think you should focus your energies on finding a new job. Are you looking to continue working as a mechanic? Let us know how the community can help your job search!
