How did you Rebound?

Did anyone here decide to go back to school after the 2008 recession? I was laid off from my job in early 2009 and thought about going back to school but decided to get into another career instead. People thought I was crazy for taking such big pay cut at the time but the risk is finally starting to pay off now that I have more experience. Other co-workers and people I know decided to go back to school for advanced degrees but are still struggling to find employment. Are there any advantages to continuing education for mid to senior level career people looking for new jobs?

I think it really depends on location and industry. I had a bachelor's degree and was laid off in 2009. Still trying to regain lost income and stability in my industry. If you're one of the people who has bounced back, consider yourself blessed.

I didn’t do either but it did take me almost a year to find another job.

I job hopped for about 2 years then I landed a new job in an unrelated field. I do know some close friends and relatives that lost everything and still trying to recover. I guess I was one of the lucky one’s.

I went back to school to finish my bachelor’s degree but I was able to find another job and haven’t finished my degree yet. I know a higher degree makes me eligible for an internal job opportunity but I don’t know how competitive I would be as an outside applicant.
