Section 8 housing is only available to people that have children, senior citizen on SSI or retirement through SSI department. College students, Young adults with no children even if they are unemployed and their status is homeless do not qualify for government assistance through housing, unless they are found to be disabled and/ or have a specific classified under SSI qualifications mental disorder that impairs their ability to hold, obtain,and/ or prevents them from employment.how I know this been there done asked for assistance both through housing and state food stamps offices. Government assistance is however available for foreigners, and immagrant workers. I also know that government medical assistance is denied to Young adults with no children ,person's who are homeless, and recently released from prison and/ or county jails.
I completely understand your frustration but what you’re saying about public housing isn't exactly right. Yes, those programs are designed with a I completely understand your frustration but what you're saying about housing isn't exactly right. Yes, there is a hierarchy to meet the demands of those with the most urgent needs first (children, elderly, disabled, etc.). Leaving able-bodied young adults way at the bottom of the pile but there are other programs that provide living arrangement for the younger demographic.
They key is to look at both state, city, and nonprofit programs/grants and get one's name on those lists. Housing/rent prices are Out Of Control!
