Counselor at Alternative Directions Llc

No Responses

I worked as a mental health counselor for about six months before one of my clients, an angry 10 year old, said that I had swore at him during our session and that I told him I didn't care about him. This was a complete falsehood. The client swore at me, repeatedly telling me to "shut the f*@# up b@$#&", he insulted me, and lied about how his previous counselor treated him. My bosses claimed to believe me but I was fired nonetheless. I have been unemployed for six months now and am either overqualified or underqualified for the positions I have been applying for, and have not been receiving any call backs with any input one way or another. What am I missing or doing wrong?

Can you appeal to your former employer? You didn't do anything wrong...

Do not take the offensive, take the defensive. Stop letting a bad mouth little disrespectful brat that sadly, no one is holding or keeping accountable for his behavior. He will repeat it, too. I am sure that you were not the first, and you will not be the last. He's learning to be a big time liar, and perjurer which is a crime when you cause someone to be fired from their job based upon a fabricated lie to cover up his behavior. You don't need that company. I have had companies and organizations like that which will do nothing but raise, support, and help out right liars. They will be held accountable by God for their wickedness. It is evil to keep supporting liars. It makes them look like they are liars and irresponsible uncaring dishonest people too. Pray to God, and find someone who will hire you for you are, and not what people say that you are. Make your business cards, and do private work. Hire you! Believe in you, and in your dreams. Pray good for this little child and for others who would wrongfully lie or speak false things about you.

You didn't do anything wrong. In MH that's one of the huge risks: what happened in you situation. Is that employer listed as a reference on your resume? If so remove it. Something tells me that when potential employers call for a reference that employer is giving out more information than allowed - you know what I mean by that.

Most of my experience is in mental health as well.. I have been offered two jobs in the field that I wanted very much. That is until my decade old record that I informed both places of, apparently they both held against me. Neither drug or violent just some bad choices for a very short period of time(6mo.).Apparently they would rather have fresh out high schoolers than anyone that knows what they are going to be dealing with day to day. I love behavioral health but most of these companies have no clue what to look at and what is important when dealing with those with mental health exceptions.

Have you tried requesting minimum/starting pay under "desired salary range"? Even though you have qualifications for the mental health field, if you're asking for high wages, this makes employers not want to hire people. Also, try not to put WHAT incident got you terminated, rather put "will explain later. It could also be time to go into another field. I reapplied several times to a company I worked for previously and never heard back from them, so I started putting my resume on job search sites and have since had 1 interview and taken and passed all parts of the safety tests but 1, (I am rescheduled to retake that part of the test Friday,) and have another interview on Tuesday.

Hello Jessie Welcome to today's adolescent generation, the, all about ME, ME, ME, ME. I have seen the situation before with other folks who have kids. Kids want parents to buy everything for them. Kids want cell phones, you see them around on they're cell phone, younger than 10 years old no less. Most "families" are GODLESS. they worship this evil materialistic world, you know, more money, fancy car, the, "keep up with the Jones" type of home and just goes on and on and on. As far as you're "employment" status, open up you're own business, be you're own boss. Sounds like God is guiding you to this opportunity. God be with you Ken
