My company has a history of financial troubles but pays extremely well. Lately the management have adopted the strategy of only promoting people when they can afford to increase their salary. However, they also demote people when they can no longer maintain that rate of pay. Yes, the workload does change based on the position so I'm always paid "fairly" for the work I'm doing, but I also don't like not knowing if my income will change any given quarter.

Ya even if that is legal (idk if it is) it's not fair for you to not know your own income. I would only stay if the pay really is that good.

Sounds very unstable and stressful! I have never heard of having your pay lowered....Doesn't sound legal
