Feeling unhealthy :(

Fast food & no gyms OTR. How do u stay healthy? I'm a pretty athletic guy but since starting trucking it's really hard to find a way to get exercise OTR... How do u get in a workout? Also there's mostly fast food to eat so that makes it harder!

Stop eating in truck stops. We bought a domestic fridge freezer. 3 cubic feet. We shop at grocery stores and make real meals. The domestic plugs into a cigarette outlet and goes down to as low as -8f. Cold enough to keep ice cream. I know we carry it mist of the time. Cheaper to eat in road by cooking it yourself. There are vegetarian meal choices at Walmart that are very healthy and microwavable. I know my wife is a vegetarian so we learned to adapt. That domestic unit is dual temp zone and cost $1200 but well worth the $$ I love ours.

I think the best solution when driving long haul routes is to pre-plan, purchase healthy foods from local grocery stores when possible, and take lots of walks when you’re not driving. Over time you will realize that you don’t need a gym when the outdoors can be your gym anytime in between rest stops. If you can schedule a minimum of 30 minutes of daily workouts, switch up your eating habits, avoiding fast foods I think it will help you moving forward. Especially developing a habit that help stay consistent even you’re not driving.

The most common problem for truck drivers is that they live on the road. As a result, you become dependent on eating what’s quick and easy not think about the fact that you’re sitting, allowing the food to build fat. My brother is a commercial driver and has developed a method to help him staying consistent while on the road. He packs an entire chest of healthy foods, options that eliminate the need to automation for fast foods. Avoid drinking soda or other sugary drinks, and never make excuses not to squeeze in that 30 minute workouts (whatever you want it to be) daily.

Best of luck!
