HHA versus CNA

HHA is Home Health Aide (or Assistant). They are not certified, and can help with duties such as general housekeeping, and companionship. CNA is Certified Nursing Assistant, and can make more per hour then HHA. They have to work certain number of hours under an LPN or RN ion order to keep their license (certificate). Most companies will pay more if you have CNA license then an HHA. Hope this helps Linda D.

Home Care at Residential In Hongkong

Hi Ms Linda unfortunately I just relocate in NC last October 27, 2014 from Hong Kong and worked in a home child and adult care since 1999 to 2014. I wanted to continue my job which I love to care for people but I can't employ that kind of job so worked so hard and went to Stanly Community College for taking my CNA1. I finished the continuing program last December 10 and I had a training in Stanly Manor here in Albemarle NC and I am looking for a job but I am not certified yet. I can do other duties and responsilties like general housekeeping and can work also in the kitchen if need too. I need badly a job it is because I need to help my husband for our living so please help me how to apply in HHA. I do appreciate your help. Thank you and God bless. Eleanor Sherwood

Actually they are both certified, at least in California they are, by the California Department of Health. Without HHA certification aides can't be hired by hospice agencies. So, you can aid people in their homes but you would be considered a personal care assistant/PCA, not an HHA. CNAs work more in Hospitals and SNFs.

In Califirnia they are equally the same. HHA and CNA are both certified under the government and require CEUs our HHA make more than CNAs in California

HHA ( Home Health Aide) in Most states DO require Certification, Competency Evaluation, and CNA training. Please check with your state's licensure requirements. More information can be found at www.homehealthaides.com Rhode Island requires its prospective home health aides to complete their nursing aide certification in addition to a competency evaluation and their CNA training. This includes 100 hours of training and 20 hours working in a clinic.
