Though defensive feelings pop up initially on the inside, I resist speaking or acting on it and instead ask for their suggestions on where I fell short and what can I do to improve if it's an overall problem or how to correct the specific work if it's an isolated task, then proceed accordingly.

Honestly.... Very defensive but i would phrase it something like this " I used to respond to criticism with more criticism but now I keep an open mind and test suggestions in an attempt to gain another perspective’.

Through the years experience has taught me to be more open to ‘Constructive’ criticism. Defense was always my natural response but I recognized it as a weakness, worked on it, and now I’m at the point of recruiting criticism from my colleagues.

This is such a great question because I don't think I've ever thought of it before! I think I would say, "I take it with an open mind and understanding and then evaluate what went wrong/what can change to improve what happened."

I Welcome it! Especially if it’s honest, constructive, and going to help me identify an opportunity to grow & learn. Good Question..

I think it's always good to be honest with a question like this, but not TOO honest.

I would probably say "To be honest, I am quite a perfectionist with my own work, so I take criticism very hard. But the reality is that even though I spend a few minutes feeling defensive, or embarrassed, or angry at myself, very soon after that I will start to figure out how to use that criticism to help make me better. I think it's always important for me, personally, to take a few minutes to gather myself when I get criticism in my work. This way I can sort through how I'm feeling about it and use it for my own improvement."

What do you guys think?
