Allowed Descrimination Based on Age

I am finding it increasingly annoying how the military will post all of these job opportunities, knowing full well that if you are over 36, you cannot apply. This is regardless of the job description. This is really contrary to EEOC guidelines, and they should not be allowed to advertise "open positions" when they are so restrictive.

David: There are several jobs you can do that would support the Air Force or other branches of the Military, just not in the Military. They have an age restriction because they have to make sure that the represent and protect our country with able bodied people. You are required to be in good physical shape in order to carry out your job. I was in the Marine Corps and know first hand the physicality of it all and why they have age limits. I don't think they discriminate because of age. On your way of thinking All branches of Military and the Police and Firefighters also fall into that category, oh yeah the FBI and CIA also. I understand you don't think it's fair and that is ok. You are allowed to have your opinion. That's what makes us different but also what makes us Americans. We have the right to be free and have our beliefs and opinions. Thank you for sharing yours!

How can you compare the protection of a nation regardless the position. I worked at Lowery Air Force Base in Denver, Colo. when I was 19 years old. I had to go thru all of the background checks and other things requirements and this was only a summer position. Therefore you should be thankful that this is part of the process to make sure everything is current and correct according to: Local, County, State, and Federal guide lines that are approved as standards which protects all. Oh, I'm thankful for the EEOC because it has established and maintain grace and protection for us all. Oh, what was the position anyway.

My point being, all other employers have to follow EEOC rules, and actually STATE that there will be no discrimination based on age, gender, etc.

yes indeed that is true, but what about the young people. they might consider working for the military. Advertising should be allowed for the young people.
