Employment Scams - BEWARE!
Hey all, Just wanted to bring this situation to light, although you may be already familiar with it: FAKE INTERVIEWS! So this company reached out to me regarding my resume, saying they got it from an employment search engine that I posted it on. They proceed to conduct an interview with me, online, because they are a German based company. (I looked them up as well as the recruiter, and it all matched up). We go through a lengthy online interview to which they say I am hired - to work in the NJ office opening up soon. I am to report online everyday at 8am and they will pay for my software and equipment needed to work from home, till the office opens. They send me my new hire packet....along with a check for the software/equipment. RED FLAG. I never countersigned the paperwork and they're sending me money?????? I call the company headquarters in Germany, and they say they are NOT opening an office in NJ at all. I send them the screen shots of my conversations, and they say its not from them. Besides identity theft, these scammers want you to deposit fraudulent checks which will never clear, while you use your own money to pay for fake equipment you will never receive. Caveat Emptor. No recruiter should be asking your personal info or even the basic info if you have it already on your resume.

They are collecting your personal information to market for profit
You were wise in deciding not to cash/deposit that check and to call the HQ in Germany.
Yep they did me the same way thanks for sharing but when i got that check i burnt it and told them i was contacting the police

Thanks for sharing your story. I had my encounters with employment scams this past summer using a freelance website called Upwork.com. Obviously as a freelancer all of your work will be done at home. Thinking this was an outside of the box approach to get home based work I started using this site. Worst mistake and waste of time. Not one person/company was real. Everyone insisted on using Google hangouts for interviews and being that I am Human Resources, as soon as you ask for my age or say have a blessed day, I know right then that this is a scam.
Go with your gut and if your not sure just google scams using that company's name and I am sure you will find your answer.
It's all a Scam , You post your Resume all you get is Junk Mail and Credit Check Solicitations it's a Big SCAM
Do you have employers wanting you to go to google hangouts for interviews? Those seem to be scam to me.
