So sick of not finding a job!!!
I couldn’t even say how many resumes I sent out, jobs I applied for online, and emails I sent for jobs over the past year. I have had a handful of interviews and I’m not getting the jobs. I’m not limiting myself at all to the types of jobs I’m applying for and have adjusted my resume accordingly. What’s worse is that I’m not just getting turned down for jobs I’m not hearing anything back. No letters, no emails, no phone calls saying ‘thanks but no thanks.’ I have been unemployed since 2013 after being let go from my job and then deciding to stay home and take care of my kids. Now it just seems that with 15+ years experience I’m unemployable. I don’t even know where to go or where to look st this point. I’m literally at my breaking point and I need a job like months ago or we are going to lose our house. I’m so stressed right now it’s making me sick. What the hell do I do or where do I even look?!?!
Hi Jamie Dunkleberger - I'm so sorry to hear about this. It's going to work out!
It's a good sign that you are getting interviews, and you you aren't the only person here with a similar problem. I've been ghosted by potential employers both before and after interviews and it's a terrible feeling. I come to terms with it by knowing that if thats how they treat prospective employees, its not a place I necessarily want to work.
So if you've been out of work for a few years, many employers will see that gap in employment and it will raise concerns for them. I highly recommend you read this conversation about how to address gaps in your resume, and this conversation about how to explain them in interviews. I think this may help a ton in your job search.
I truly hope this helps, and let me know if there is anything else I can do. Feel free to shoot me a message on here (via CaseMail) and I'll get back to you ASAP!
