After working in the printing industry as a credit Analyst for 14 1/2 years, I find myself Unemployed due to a Consolidation of my department.

Hi Thomas, unfortunate but true, when a company decides to downsize, the effects on it's employees on both ends is usually unfair and unjust! One person looses a job and the other gets to do double the work for usually the same money! We have to remember that it usually isn't personal it's just business. So the person on the receiving end, the greater extreme, has to find other means of support. Unemployment is good, but only temporary and usually about half of what you normally gross. I would think as a credit analyst, you pretty much should be good in any industry, I mean the basics are the same, it's just learning the tweeks of the new business. Another option is to subcontract your services to various businesses, with that amount of experience, anyways an options as I see it! Sorry to hear of your situation and wish you the best!

I know that could be a setback right now but don't give up looking for your next job. I understand how you feel because that was me in 2009, being let go because of a merger after 12 years working for the company. It then took me 4 yrs before I could get a fulltime job and a whole lot of debt going back to school because no one wanted to hire me without a degree I really hope it does not take you that long but just don't give up looking for that next job. It will come as long as you are relentless and don't get discouraged because of the thousands of 'no' you will get - just move on to the next one.

Hey Thomas! I understand how you feel. It may take some time to get through the emotions of the job loss but what do you want to do with your career now?

That stinks! Good Luck with finding a new job! They are out there just got to look in the right places!

Are you worried about getting back out there? I would start by looking at availabilities in your areas to see just how many there are. Then try updating your resume. You can go through an agency or career center if you're not sure how to start.
I understand same here
